In order to place a bridge a dentist has to grind the adjacent teeth down. This irreversibly damages the natural teeth. These teeth are now more likely to need a root canal. A bridge literally “bridges” over the missing tooth with a fake tooth on top of the gum tissue. A bridge is bulky and difficult to clean. Therefore, bridges often get decay on the support teeth necessitating the removal of the bridge and a new or larger bridge made. With a dental implant, no adjacent teeth are damage. A dental implant is independent of the other teeth. A dental implant will never need a root canal and will never get decay.
